Q. Describe Distance-Time Graph for (i) Uniform Speed (ii) Variable Speed (iii) Object at rest

  • (i) Uniform Speed: When a body travels with uniform speed, the distance-time graph is a straight line. The gradient of the distance-time graph is numerically equal to speed.

  • (ii) Variable Speed: When a body travels with non-uniform speed, the distance-time graph is a curve.

  • (iii) Object at Rest: When the body does not change its position, the graph line is parallel to the time axis.

Q. Describe Speed-Time Graph for (i) Zero Speed (ii) Uniform Speed (iii) Variable Speed

  • (i) Zero Speed: When the body does not change its position (zero speed), the graph line is parallel to the time axis at zero (along the time axis).

  • (ii) Uniform Speed: When the body has uniform speed, the graph line is parallel to the time axis and the total distance covered is given by the area under the curve.

  • (iii) Variable Speed: When the speed of the body is increasing uniformly, the graph is a straight line sloping upwards, and the area of the triangle formed under the graph represents the distance covered.
